My name is Kenzie, and I LOVED having Deanna as my music teacher for both piano and vocal lessons. She is an amazing person inside and out and taught me some great things not only about music but things that helped me throughout life. She really helped shape me as a person and was always there for me. There were days I would come in crying and she would sit me down and have a heart to heart with me and help me out and calm me down before we got started. She was and still is really someone I can trust. I think of her as a second mom. On the musical side, she really advanced my musical career. Sometimes the little songs she’ll make you play and learn seem so dumb and boring, but in the end I realized how far it made my piano skills progress. She believes in her students and she’s honest. She’s not afraid to tell you when that last note you sang was a little bonk, but she really lights up when you sing and it makes you feel good to be praised for your gift like that. I’ve taken choir classes, guitar lessons, and other music classes and lessons before and NONE of them compared to what I got with Deanna. She really treats you like family and genuinely cares about your musical career or musical hobby, and you as a person and your own well being. She’s funny and outgoing and kind and loving and extremely smart. She is an amazing musician herself and it was really cool getting to learn from her. She helped me get where I am today, being offered show times to play at the Chesterfield Amphitheater (which she has come out to see me perform there in her free time), and playing on stage with the main show at the Kansas City Art Festival, even back when I was in middle school she helped me prepare for my talent show. Now I have graduated from high school and I still love getting tips from her from time to time — like, “when you mess up, it’s okay!”, “Don’t say anything. The crowd probably didn’t even notice or they forgot by the end!” I advise anyone and everyone to see her and learn from her. Love you, Deanna ! ❤️
