CHANGING LIVES ONE SONG AT A TIME

MEET THE OWNER

Hi! I’m Deanna – piano teacher, vocal coach, musician, singer, keyboardist, band leader, mentor, and I am blessed to do what I love! I’ve been creating music my entire life. The day after I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree from Millikin University, I moved to Nashville, TN, for a singing and performance job. For 13 years, I created vocal demos for local songwriters, performed as a lead vocalist for several bands, and worked as a backup vocalist for various recording artists. I’ve been fortunate to have a long, fulfilling career, performing for audiences ranging from 1 to 70,000.

Since 2004, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with over 1,200 piano and vocal students, ranging in ages 5-65 and personalities from “I can’t wait to get on the stage and perform” to “I’m taking lessons for my pleasure and will never perform on a stage” and every personality in between,  effortlessly adapting and guiding them on their musical journeys, enriching their lives with music, honing their skills, and helping them study and perform their favorite styles. Whether their interest lies in rock, pop, jazz, country, contemporary Christian, musical theater, or adult contemporary, my 20 years of experience in teaching and lifetime performing, singing, and playing all these genres allows me to share valuable knowledge, stylistic nuances, and performance insights. I teach ages 5-ageless, offering both piano and vocal beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons. No matter where you are on your musical journey, I’m here to meet you right where you are.

What to Expect as My Student

I live by one of my favorite life mottos: “Leave people better than you found them.” I strive every day, in every connection, and in every lesson to embody this philosophy.

I understand that starting music lessons is a leap of faith. It can feel scary—whether you’re an adult hesitating to do something for yourself, or an introverted child or teen afraid of judgment. Singing in front of someone new or playing a song you didn’t practice as much as you wanted? I get it—it can feel downright horrifying.

But here’s the thing: We’ve got this TOGETHER.

Progress, not perfection. I’m here to help you become the best version of yourself at your pace. Over the years, I’ve formed meaningful teacher-student relationships with more than 1,200 students, all built on mutual respect, trust, and positivity. My methodology, vibe, and approach consistently deliver life-changing results.

When you join my studio, you can expect to feel understood, supported, valued, and cherished. Mistakes are happy accidents—we all make them, and we’ll laugh through them together.

My studio reflects my students and me: fun, inviting, joyful, and energetic. It’s comfortable, inviting, and “cozycluttered” (yes, I made that word up—it’s a Deannaism!). It’s filled with love, with tokens from students dating back to 2004: cards, handmade gifts, trinkets, and photos that make this space truly special.

So, let’s dive in together. Mistakes are welcome. Growth is inevitable. And fun is guaranteed!

3 Yearly Performance Opportunities

My studio hosts three large, family-friendly student concerts each year. These are not traditional recitals; instead, they mimic the real-life experience of seasoned professional musicians, complete with pro audio and lights and all the focus challenges of live performance. I provide a relaxed, supportive, and teachable environment on a large, potentially intimidating stage. Every piano and vocal student, regardless of skill level or age, is encouraged to perform but not required to.  Vocal students have the option to be backed by a professional 5-piece band made up of myself, my husband, friends, and peers. These concerts offer a fun, stress-free platform for performance training, building confidence, overcoming fear, and creating lifelong memories.
